Welcome to the Vocaloid Lyrics Wiki! This is a quick guide to editing on the site. If you need further help or have any suggestions, feel free to contact the administrators.
Important Points[]
- This wiki follows a set of guidelines for its song, album, and producer pages. This page details the important points of each set of guidelines.
- To start adding a page, you can refer to this Song Page Generator. Scroll to the bottom for the other generators.
- Before you add a translation to a page, note the following:
- Machine translations are not allowed.
- All JP -> EN translations should be verified before adding them to the page. See the Translation Guidelines.
- All other EN translations should be marked with {{UnverifiedTranslation}} unless you can vouch for their accuracy.
Account Basics[]
On the bottom left (desktop) or top right (mobile) of your screen is the icon you use for your Fandom profile. Hovering over it (desktop) or clicking on it (mobile) will allow you to see your profile, your Talk Page, your preferences, and your contributions.
Your profile can be edited to tell people about yourself. Please see this section of the Simplified Ruleset for more details.
Your Talk Page is where people can send you messages. The bell above (desktop) or to the left of (mobile) your icon will show notifications for messages (as well as replies to comments and forum posts you follow). If someone has sent you a message and you want to reply, please create a new topic on their Talk Page with the same heading. This is the most reliable way to make sure they see your message. Please see this section of the Simplified Ruleset for more details.
Your preferences are where you can, among other things, switch default editing modes. These are located under the "Editing" tab.
If you wish to comment on a blog post or edit certain pages, you will need to be both logged in and autoconfirmed.
Creating a Song Page[]
Please note that if a page doesn't have at least an attempt at the original lyrics, it will be subject to deletion after a day. If you're having difficulty completing a page, type {{WIP}} at the top to let others know.
Hover over the three vertical dots to the far right of the page to access the “Add new page” button. Page titles should be the original title of the song, followed by a space and the romanization of the title in parentheses if applicable. If you receive a notice that the page shares a title with an unrelated song, add “/<INSERT ROMANIZED NAME OF PRODUCER HERE>” to the end. (See "About song titles" in the Song Article Guideline for more information about disambiguations.)
For example:
The quickest way to create the content of a new song page is with CoolMikeHatsune22’s song page generator. Simply fill out the form, then copy and paste the results into the Source Editor. If you are not on Source Editor by default, click the “Visual Editor” button on the top right of the editing interface and click “Source editing” from the dropdown menu to switch.
To upload an image, use Fandom's uploader. Images unrelated to the wiki will be deleted, including images you put on your profile.
You can preview a page before hitting “Save” by clicking "Preview" on the bottom left of the editing interface.
Please see the Song Article Guideline for further details. You can also access other song pages in Source Editor mode to view what they’ve done.
Adding a Translation[]
Do not add machine translations (e.g. Google Translate, DeepL, ChatGPT) to any page.
If the song’s original language is Japanese, please do not add your English translation or an English translation you have found (even if it’s the official one) directly to the page. Instead, submit it as a link in a comment on this translation checking blog post so it can be checked first. If it’s your translation, you can link to an external site (such as Google Docs) or a post on your own blog, which is the third tab when viewing your profile.
If the song’s original language is any other non-English language, feel free to add an English translation. However, unless you can vouch for the translation’s quality, please write {{UnverifiedTranslation}} directly below ==Lyrics==
in Source Editor mode.
We unfortunately do not have the resources to verify or display non-English translations.
Assuming the translation is approved or otherwise okay to add, you can create a new column by adding |'''''English'''''
below the last heading (or |{{OfficialEnglish}}
if it’s the official translation) and either typing after the blank | for each line or creating a new column of |<INSERT ENGLISH HERE>
if there is no blank |. Again, we recommend you open another song page with an English translation in Source Editor to see what’s going on.
Below the lyrics table, please give credit to the original translator with {{Translator|<Translator Name>}}. If you don’t know who the translator is, write “Anonymous” where the name would go.
Please see the Translation Guidelines for further details.
Creating an Album Page[]
An album page needs to have at least one song of multiple already on the wiki before it can be created. Singles do not receive album pages.
The title follows the same guidelines as song pages, except “(album)” should be added to the end.
Again, the content can be filled out with CoolMikeHatsune22’s album page generator.
Please see the Album Article Guideline for further details.
Creating a Producer Page[]
A producer page needs to have a producer category before it can be created (e.g. PinocchioP needs Category:PinocchioP songs list).
The title should be the romanized, most current name of the producer. If they share the same name as another page, you can add “(producer),” “(illustrator),” etc. to the end. Usually, this page will already exist as a redirect to the producer category. You can either write the title at the end of the URL manually or click on "What Links Here" to the right of the producer category page to access the redirect page, then edit it with the proper content.
Again, the content can be filled out with CoolMikeHatsune22’s producer page generator.
Please see the Producer Article Guideline for further details.
