FANDOM

This article is a guideline for all album pages on the Vocaloid Lyrics Wiki. Please use this guideline if you want to make a new album page.

General RulesEdit

Because this wiki is mainly focused on presenting original songs, album pages function primarily as disambiguation-like pages. They are meant to allow for easier navigation across this website, and not to provide complete information on the album. As such an album should have at least one track which has page on this website before it can be added to this wiki. If an album has tracks featuring VOCALOID, but none of them have a page on this wiki, it cannot be added (unless you make a page for one of the tracks, of course). Furthermore, since album pages function like disambiguations, singles do not need album pages. Information on singles can be added to the song page itself in the form of links to Bandcamp, Spotify, etc. in the external links section and/or a description in the song infobox. Lastly, albums should (of course) be official albums. Fanmade albums or compilations (those made without the knowledge of the producer(s)) are not allowed.

Layout / TemplateEdit

Here is the basic layout of an album page. Feel free to copy and paste it if you are making a new article.

About titlesEdit

To differentiate album pages from normal song articles, they should always have "(album)" after the title of the album. Other than that, album pages follow the same naming conventions as song articles.

About the Album InfoboxEdit

The album infobox can be roughly divided into two sections (separated below by a blank line), a brief summary of the album and the tracklist. The parameters will be discussed briefly in their own section.

Brief Summary partEdit

The first few parameters of the album infobox (shown below) give information about the album itself.

  • title: The romanized title (i.e., in Romaji/Pinyin/Romaja/English/etc.) of the album. This parameter is required for the template to function.
  • orgtitle: The original title of the album if in a foreign script (e.g., in Japanese/Chinese/Korean/etc.). If the album does not have an original title in a foreign script this part of the template can remain blank.
  • label: The name of the label(s) (e.g. KarenT, EXIT TUNES) that the album was released under (if any). Vocaloid Database mentions the label(s) of albums on their album pages. If the album was not released under any label this part of the template can remain blank.
  • desc: A very short description of the album, meant to specify what type of album it is. Examples of sentences to fill in here are "an album by PRODUCER" or "a compilation album". If the album is a compilation of songs featuring only one Vocaloid, "a compilation album featuring VOCALOID" should suffice. Any additional information should be added to websites like Vocaloid Database or Vocaloid Wiki. This parameter is required for the template to function.
  • vdb: A link to the Vocaloid Database article on the album. Only the numbers of the album article should be added (i.e. 12727 instead of https://vocadb.net/Al/12727). This parameter is required for the template to function.
  • vw: A link to the album page on Vocaloid Wiki (if there is one). Only the article name on Vocaloid Wiki should be added here. If the album does not have a page on Vocaloid Wiki this part of the template can remain blank.

Track list partEdit

The tracklist of the album is the main part of the page. It has several parameters.

  • image: The album art. This parameter is required for the template to function.
  • color: The color of the "Track list" part of the template. See the Color page for help with the hex codes. The format for choosing a color is "HEX1; color: HEX2", where HEX1 is the color of the background and HEX2 the color of the text (e.g. "#000000; color: #FFFFFF" will give you a black background with white text).
  • trX: The track name. X can be replaced with the track number (tr1 allows you to input the first track, tr2 allows you to input the second track, etc.). As singles are not meant to have album pages, the first two tracks are required for the template to function. Track names should follow the naming convention of song articles (e.g. "すろぉもぉしょん (Slow Motion)"). The only exception to this rule is that the producer does not have to be specified (i.e. "Memory/Circus-P" can be displayed as "Memory"). If a song page is present for that particular track, it should be linked to by formatting the track as "TRACK NAME" (e.g. if one of the tracks is トライアル (Trial), the track name should be formatted as トライアル (Trial). In case of an article where the producer is specified in the title, it should be formatted as "TRACK NAME" (e.g. if an album contains the song Memory by Circus-P (for which the page is called Memory/Circus-P on this website, the track name should be formatted as Memory). There are forty tracks possible per disk. If this is not enough for the album you want to add, please consult a site administrator.
    • trXs: The singer(s) (and producers) of the song. This parameter should be present for every track that is added. If the album features songs of only one producer, just the singers suffice (e.g. "MAIKA", "OLIVER, Ryuto, and Fukase"). The first mention of a singer on the page should always be linked to the original song category of that singer. If a track has more than three singers, "various" should be credited as the singers. If the track is an instrumental, "Instrumental" (i.e. "|trXs = Instrumental") suffices. If the album is a compilation, both the producer (i.e. composer) and the singer should be added here (e.g. "PinocchioP ft. Hatsune Miku", "Neru ft. Kagamine Rin and Kagamine Len").
    • YtrX: When an album has several discs, this parameter can be used to specify that which tracks are on the second/third/etc. disk. Y should be replaced with the disk number (so 2 for disk 2, 3 for disc 3, etc.). All else functions the same as trX. There are five discs possible per album (all with forty tracks per disk). If this is not enough for the album you want to add, please consult a site administrator.
      • YtrXs: Functions the same as trXs.
  • diskX: This parameter allows you to specify the name of a certain disk. The X should be replaced with the disk you want to name. This parameter should not be filled in if the album does not have at least one specific disk name.

About External LinksEdit

While they are not mandatory, external links to sites which sell (legal copies of) the album may be put in an external links section below the album infobox. Links to wikis and databases other than VOCALOID Wiki and Vocaloid Database can be put here, too.

CategorizingEdit

Due to the way the album infobox is set up, pages will automatically get the "Albums" category. There are a few other categories which need to be added.

If a VOCALOID/Piapro Studio voicebank has been featured on an album (even if only in the chorus of a song), the following category can be added.

If a composer has one or more tracks on this album, the following category should be added.

This category should always have a root category (i.e. if "X songs list" does not exist yet, "X songs list/Albums" should not be made). The rules around which producer category should be added are the same as the ones for song articles. It is easiest to just look at which producer category/categories the song article for the track has. If the /Albums subcategory does not exist yet, instructions on how to make it are listed below.

  • If the album contains a song which was composed by a producer on this wiki but which features a human vocalist, the albums category of that producer should still be added.

Any other categories (i.e. series categories, genres, languages, etc.) should not be added to album pages.

About CategoriesEdit

Sometimes the necessary category for an album page does not exist yet. In that case, please make a category page with the instructions below. For instructions on how to make new categories, please consult the Song Article Guideline.

Producer CategoriesEdit

Albums subcategories can be made using the ProdAlbums template.

<Producer name>
  • Producer name: The name of the producer which the album category is for. It is important that the producer name is exactly the same as the one used in the root producer category (so, for Hachiouji-P, the producer name used in this template should be "Hachiouji-P", not "HachioujiP", "8#Prince", etc.).
  • Vocaloid Database Link: A link to the Vocaloid Database article on the producer. Only the numbers at the end of the link (after /Ar/) should be added.
  • Group/duo: If the album subpage you are making is for a producer group or duo or the like (like HoneyWorks or SHiruO in the sky), you can use this space to specify what type of collaboration it is.

This template automatically adds the Producer Discographies category and the root producer category. No other categories need to be added.

VOCALOID CategoriesEdit

Normally VOCALOID song categories should already have been made by an administrator. If you find yourself having to make such a category, please use the template below.

<Vocaloid name>
  • Vocaloid name: The name of the VOCALOID which the album category is for. Make sure that the name is exactly the same as the VOCALOID's song category.

This template automatically adds the Albums featuring Vocaloid category and the vocaloid song category. No other categories need to be added.

Crypton Voicebank CategoriesEdit

Due to the fact that voicebanks made by Crypton have VOCALOID voicebanks and Piapro voicebanks, a special template was made for them. It works similarly to the normal template, but has a few extra parameters.

  • Voicebank name: The name of the voicebank which the album category is for. In case of Piapro Studio voicebanks, it'll be the original character's name with "NT" behind it. Make sure that the name is exactly the same as the song category for this voicebank.
  • Vocaloid/Piapro Studio (first one): Specify the type of voicebank (Vocaloid or Piapro Studio) that this category is for. Please make sure that you spell and capitalize "Vocaloid" or "Piapro Studio" exactly as spelled in this section.
  • Alternate Voicebank name: The name of the alternate voicebank related to the original voicebank. Make sure that the name is exactly the same as the song category for this voicebank.
  • Vocaloid/Piapro Studio (second one): Specify the type of voicebank that this category is not for (or specify what the type of the alternate voicebank is).

This template automatically adds the category Albums featuring Vocaloid or Albums featuring Piapro Studio (depending on the voicebank type) and the original song category. No other categories need to be added.
