Hazuki no Yume has requested past usages of her translations to be removed. We would normally respect the author's wishes to remove their work. However, given the circumstances under which the request was made, the fact that she previously gave us explicit permission to use her translations (see also Good faith), and the best interest of the fandom, we have decided against removing the translations and only replacing those where another translation of sufficient quality is available. If you have found such a translation and has been checked as accurate, please replace this one or leave a comment with a link to that translation so another editor can replace it.
Japanese | Romaji | English |
夢や理想追いかけて | yume ya risō oikakete | Chasing after my dreams and ideals, |
青春時代逃避行 | seishun jidai tōhikō | I spend the whole springtime of my life on running away. |
「そんな馬鹿なことやってないで」 | “sonna baka na koto yatte nai de” | “Stop wasting time on such silly things,” they said. |
そんなのわかっているけれど | sonna no wakatte iru keredo | It’s not like I don’t know that already. |
僕にだって意地だとか | boku ni datte iji da toka | Believe it or not, I also have things I want to do |
やりたいことがあるんだよ | yaritai koto ga arun da yo | and values that I’ll protect at all costs. |
何度何度も蹴躓いても | nando nando mo ketsumazuite mo | I just can’t give up on them |
諦められないんだ | akiramerarenain da | no matter how many times I stumble. |
ああ 存在とか 恋愛とか | ā sonzai toka ren’ai toka | Aah, I’ve been immersing myself |
すべて取り込んで飲み込んで | subete torikonde nomikonde | in those notions of “existence” and “love” |
浸ってた | hitatteta | that I swallowed whole. |
ああ 優越とか 絶望とか | ā yūetsu toka zetsubō toka | Aah, why are these feelings of superiority and despair |
なんで僕を邪魔するのだろう | nande boku o jama suru no darō | standing in my way? |
ノイズ消して | noizu keshite | Please, turn down all that noise. |
自由と勝手が交差してゆく Ah | jiyū to katte ga kōsa shite yuku Ah | My notions of freedom and obstinacy are getting mixed up. |
未来の光探してすぐに走り出したら | mirai no hikari sagashite sugu ni hashiridashitara | If I were to set off running in search for the light of my future, |
答えはすぐそこにあるって心外だろう | kotae wa sugu soko ni aru tte shingai darō | only to find the answer right around the corner, wouldn’t that be disappointing? |
勇気と希望の ヘタれた勇者様は | yūki to kibō no hetareta yūsha-sama wa | Thus armed with his courage and hopes, the powerless hero |
折れた剣で今日も戦いゆく | oreta tsurugi de kyō mo tatakai yuku | is fighting his way through another day with his broken sword. |
道の段差に気づかずに | michi no dansa ni kizukazu ni | Not noticing the bump in the road, |
全力疾走前のめり | zenryoku shissō maenomeri | I almost fall on my face while running at top speed. |
「転ばぬ先の杖」とはいうけれど | “korobanu saki no tsue” to wa iu keredo | People say that you should look before you leap, |
僕にはまだ無いようだ | boku ni wa mada nai yō da | but apparently, I don’t have that kind of foresight yet. |
目の前には分かれ道 | me no mae ni wa wakaremichi | Now I’ve come upon a fork in the road. |
「さあ、自分で選んでごらん」 | “sā, jibun de erande goran” | “Go on, choose one for yourself,” I’m told. |
レールの上を行く僕たちは | rēru no ue o yuku boku-tachi wa | For those of us who’ve always walked on a predetermined path, |
脱線も許されない | dassen mo yurusarenai | it’s unthinkable to stray from it. |
自己実現と 自尊心と | jikojitsugen to jisonshin to | I wonder what exactly |
縛られていたもの果して | shibararete ita mono hatashite | are those things that have been restrained |
何だろう | nan darō | by my notions of self-realization and pride. |
ああ将来とか 後悔とか | ā shōrai toka kōkai toka | Aah, let me just stop thinking |
何も考えず飛び出して | nani mo kangaezu tobidashite | about the future, or regrets, |
ぶつかって | butsukatte | and charge right ahead, come what may, |
そんな困難はすぐ破壊して Ha | sonna konnan wa sugu hakai shite Ha | destroying any difficulty lying in my way. |
未来の光探してどこまで来たのだろう | mirai no hikari sagashite doko made kita no darō | How far have I come in my search for the light of my future? |
目の前にある光さえ掴めなくて | me no mae ni aru hikari sae tsukamenakute | While I can’t even grasp hold of the light right in front of my eyes. |
僕はそう一体何になりたいんだろう | boku wa sō ittai nani ni naritain darō | What kind of person do I actually want to become, anyway? |
誰のために戦っているのだろう | dare no tame ni tatakatte iru no darō | Whom am I fighting so hard for? |
大きく 見開いた目では | ōkiku mihiraita me de wa | Even when opened wide, |
何も見通せなくて | nani mo mitōsenakute | my eyes can’t see through anything. |
それでも僕らは進むんだ | sore demo bokura wa susumun da | But still, I’m gonna move forward. |
僕たちは道を拓くんだ。 | boku-tachi wa michi o hirakun da. | We’re gonna clear a new path. |
未来の光探してすぐに走り出したら | mirai no hikari sagashite sugu ni hashiridashitara | Setting off running in search for the light of my future, |
答えはすぐそこにあるって気づかないまま | kotae wa sugu soko ni aru tte kizukanai mama | I don’t even realize that the answer is just around the corner. |
勇気と希望の 無謀な勇者様は | yūki to kibō no mubō na yūsha-sama wa | Thus armed with his courage and hopes, the reckless hero |
折れた剣で今日も戦いゆく | oreta tsurugi de kyō mo tatakai yuku | is fighting his way through another day with his broken sword. |
未来の光探してよくここまで来た | mirai no hikari sagashite yoku koko made kita | In search for the light of my future, I’ve come all the way here. |
目の前には光じゃなく普通があって | me no mae ni wa hikari janaku futsū ga atte | What I find in front of me is no light—it’s just the usual scenery. |
鎧を脱ぎ捨てた勇者はこう言った | yoroi o nugisuteta yūsha wa kō itta | And so throwing off his armor, the hero said: |
「なんてことはない、これでいいんだ」 | “nante koto wa nai, kore de iin da” | “That’s all right, it’s fine the way it is.” |
