Minakata Laboratory (南方研究所, minakata laboratory) is an animation team established in 2010 by Task (タスク) and Utsushita (うつした). The group specializes in creating various works such as illustration CG, murals, live painting, animation, and promotional videos. The members include Task, Utsushita, Chobo Roku (チョボ六), and Hachi.
Before its formation, Task and Utsushita originally formed as a unit circle and had been posting videos together. They gained attention with their first uploaded video, "I painted Saihate Miku on the wall of the room". Around 2009, they shifted their focus to animation, sparked by Hachi's popular work, "clock lock works". In January 2010, Task and Utsushita established Minakata Laboratory, followed by the addition of Chobo Roku. Later, Hachi also joined the team for the song "Sajou no Yume Kui Shoujo".
