Description
"last words" is about necrophobia, the fear of others' deaths. the death of family and friends is always a hard thing, but despite running its course three or four times in my life- pets, grandparents, friends- i'm still incapable of navigating it. this song addresses that fear, from the lens of a funeral. "specters" is an album about my fears, some big, some small. - Composer's comment |
Lyrics
stay back, don't touch me
i'm just a little bit paralyzed
stay back, don't watch me
you'll see everything in my eyes
(inhale)
sun gleaming through the window
failing to light the room
reflecting what i don't know
singing a random tune, ooh
and i reminisce in the stillness
imagine your heart on the balance
while i feel my own break
in a way i feared to know
collect my thoughts
and leave them scattered on the coffin, mm
they're moving on
but now we've gathered on a moment, clinging on
electrified
i close my eyes
close them tight
and realize
what were the last words on your mind?
the last words on your mind
a prayer for another?
or thoughts of a lover?...
