Japanese Romaji English
あの日見た、夜に ano hi mita, yoru ni That day, I saw
夜に咲いた花 yoru ni saita hana flowers that bloomed in the night.
僕は、いつまで憶えているかな boku wa, itsu made oboete iru kana I wonder how long I’ll remember them…

君の目に、同じ kimi no me ni, onaji In your eyes,
同じ光が写ったような onaji hikari ga utsutta you na The same light seemed to be projected.
そんな夜でした sonna yoru deshita It was that sort of night.

ただ残したくて tada nokoshitakute I just want to leave
誰かの思い出に dareka no omoide ni myself behind
一部だけでいい ichibu dake de ii in somebody’s memories,
僕のことを boku no koto o Even if it’s only a portion…

いつの日か itsu no hi ka When was it?
君の笑った顔を kimi no waratta kao o I remembered
浮かべて ukabete your smiling face.
流した汗が nagashita ase ga My sweat flowed freely…

咲いてキラキラ saite kirakira The flowers bloomed and glittered
夜空に散った花びらが yozora ni chitta hanabira ga and their petals scattered in the night sky.
光を纏って弾けた hikari o matotte hajiketa They bounded, clad in light.
きっと届いてるかな kitto todoiteru kana I’m sure they’ll reach you.
君はどこにいるかな kimi wa doko ni iru kana Where could you be?
蒔いた種はそっと閉じ込めて maita tane wa sotto tojikomete I gently sealed away the seeds I planted.
心の奥で芽吹く日を待っている kokoro no oku de mebuku hi o matte iru They bud inside my heart, waiting for the sun.[1]

あの日見た、夜に ano hi mita, yoru ni That day, I saw
夜に咲いた花 yoru ni saita hana flowers that bloomed in the night.
君は、誰と時を過ごして kimi wa, dare to toki o sugoshite Who did you spend the time with?
どんな風に笑い donna fuu ni warai How were you smiling?
どんな風に感じたのかな donna fuu ni kanjita no kana How did you feel?
そんな夜でした sonna yoru deshita It was that sort of night.

この手を伝って込めた僕の思いを kono te o tsutatte kometa boku no omoi o I want my memories, which travel down my hands,
一部だけでいい ichibu dake de ii to reach you
届けたくて todoketakute even if it’s just a little.
眺めてるだけの夏に終止符を打とうって nagameteru dake no natsu ni shuushifu o utoutte I vow to put an end to my summer of just watching!
君の手を取り kimi no te o tori I will take your hand.

咲いてキラキラ saite kirakira Blooming, glittering…
夜道を蹴って走った yomichi o kette hashitta I ran along the street at night.
光を掴んで弾けた hikari o tsukande hiketa I seized the light and it bounced around.
もっと寄り添えるかな motto yorisoeru kana I wonder if we can get even closer.
君は笑えてるかな kimi wa waraeteru kana I wonder if you can be made to laugh.
蒔いた種はそっと芽を出して maita tane wa sotto me o dashite The seeds I planted gently sprout.
潤して満たされる日を待っている uruoshite mitasareru hi o matte iru I drench them and they’re satisfied, waiting for the sun.

凪いでゆらゆら naide yurayura Things calm down and waver…
水風船を片手に mizu fuusen o katate ni With a water balloon in hand,
浴衣を纏って咲いてた yukata o matotte saiteta You wore your yukata and smiled.[2]
そっと揺れる髪 sotto yureru kami Your hair gently swayed.
数センチで触れる距離 suu senchi de fureru kyori I was only a few centimetres away from touching you.
今、時が止まればいいのになんて ima, toki ga tomareba ii no ni nante “If only time would stop now…”
ありきたりな言葉を arikitarina kotoba o Such trite words
浮かべて、僕は ukabete, boku wa come to mind, and I—

夜空に舞った花びらが yozora ni matta hanabira ga The petals danced in the night sky.
光を纏って弾けた hikari o matotte hajiketa They bounded, clad in light.
ずっと響いてるんだ zutto hibiiterun da Their sounds will always resound.
遠くまで届いてるんだ tooku made todoiterun da They’ll reach far into the distance.
あの日の僕の思いも詰め込んで ano hi no boku no omoi mo tsumekonde Cramming in all my memories from that day,
今、君に向かって全部打ち上げるから ima, kimi ni mukatte zenbu uchiageru kara I will face you now and make my bold speech!

打ち明けるから uchiakeru kara I’ll open my heart!

Translation NotesEdit

  1. This track has a few sections that change depending on how you split the sentences up. One example is 心の奥で芽吹く日を待っている. Two options are:

[心の奥で芽吹く] [日を待っている] – They bud inside my heart, waiting for the sun.
[心の奥で芽吹く日]を待っている – (I/they) wait for the day when they bud inside my heart.

The way the line is sung made me lean towards the first interpretation, but I think both are valid.
  2. Though 咲く (saku) literally means ‘to bloom’, it originally meant ‘to smile’, which is where this interpretation was drawn from.
