General Discussion
What songs do you consider vocaloid “essentials” or “classics”? Like the songs that are so famous or iconic that ALL vocaloid fans should know them?
Just Updated
Since someone just asked about changing the China flag to Hong Kong for Cantonese (which I think is a generally good idea for differentiation reasons, if we're keeping the flags), I just wanted to ask what folks/admins think about switching away from using flags entirely?
My thoughts for supporting the switch:
1.) Many countries speak the same national language -- and the reverse is true too, many languages can be spoken in the same country -- so the flags themselves are not really representative of the language itself.
2.) Some people don't know the flags of certain countries, so it's hard to tell which language they're supposed to represent, and some languages don't have flags for various reasons. So, on mobile especially, you essentially have to click into these images to see what language they represent, which makes them a failure as a navigational tool.
3.) They're tiny and hard to click on -- again, another way they don't function as good navigation.
4.) Switching them out to something simpler will make it easier for future editors to add new languages, if that ever becomes a need.
My thoughts against supporting the switch:
1.) I'm not sure what to switch them out to. Maybe just text? But I'm unsure of what kind of format.
2.) The current format does look nice and orderly.
Anyway, I'm just throwing this out there! Let me know your thoughts -- if you love this idea, hate it, or think it's too difficult to implement.
Hey wikians,
Curious if there's ever been discussion here about transferring from fandom/wikia to a non-profit host. I can only imagine what a barrier this would initially be with the quantity of pages we have here, but with scraping and rebuilding of wikitext templates, it seems like it'd at least be attainable.
I'm asking from the perspective of a user/developer/translator that has become increasingly frustrated with this platform over the past years. Fandom has not committed any resources to making it "easier" for people to get involved in wiki communities (I do not consider the forums section to be an example of this), and the aggressive advertising and obtuse UI makes me fear for the future a bit.
Just curious what the community's gut feeling on wikia as a platform is and whether or not there have ever been thoughts of moving offsite.

現実感喪失 (Loss of sense of reality)
This is a very unique song, good tempo, and true rythm... I think it deserves a spot with its original kanji, an translation of it's pronounciqations, and finally an english translation. It has a story to tell, but it's not been submitted, so I unfortunately cannot understand it.
I'd also love if people like trickle, or other cover artists, would be able to make an english cover as people like Trickle and Will Stetson are the most accurate and faithful artists I have ever known...
Either way, the song here I feel should have a place in the minds of everyone who visits the wiki, and thus it's own page.
The song is called Proof Of Love and the lyrics are available, but I can’t find an English translation. I don’t know how to do translations and I don’t know enough Japanese to do one yet.
so i've noticed a lot of people like "i cant find Therefore You and Me on spotify!!! where is it??? i can only find podcast episodes for it..."
but like it's there. the title is just misspelled. it's "Therefor You and Me" by someone called "si-o" [i don't know if that's another name that TadanoCo uses or if it's another person, but still].
yeah just wanted y'all to know <3 no need to be all upset about it
Hi! im new to this wiki, just found it looking for resources on the song Unknown Mother Goose. If I make any vocaloid fanart or if i find any good english translations for songs I'll post them here. Also I found this YT channel that makes pretty good Teto covers, and it seems like their english translations are pretty good, so here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/@tanjirotaidana // I also found that their english translation for Abstract Nonsense seems to line up exactly with the japanese vocals if that makes any sense? like you could sing the english lyrics in the exact same beats as the japanese lyrics and you wouldn't have to change anything at all if that makes sense at all.
The english song name is called:
Die In a Place Where I Can't See You
And I found a translation video:
But heres a copy and pasteable ver:
If I don't start paying attention. This life won't just be mine anymore
Some John Doe will get involved and it'll be too far late to throw it all away
Be satisfied with what you have, Cry only when you loose them
It's a convenient way of living. Though it tends to be just the way life goes
Die in a place where I can't see you
I feel depressed whenever you're around. Night after night, dragging myself about
Die in a place where I can't see you
It's really selfish of me to say this, but give up.
I've gotten so used to hurting others, I feel nothing towards it now.
And so I quickly hang my head, possessed by a necromancer.
Saying whatever I want, it's fine even now, isn't it?
If it can't be helped, it's fine. But what do I mean, when I say it can't be helped?
Die in a place where I can't see you
You make me depressed so easily. Dragging me through it my whole life.
Die in a place where I can't see you
I know it's awful of me to say this, but give up
Die in a place where I can't see you
Die in a place where I can't see you
It's really selfish of me. I know it's awful of me.
Die in a place where I can't see you
I feel depressed whenever you're around. Night after night, dragging myself about
Die in a place where I can't see you
It's really selfish of me to say this, but give up.
If you're some place where I can see you. Than keep living.
If you don't start paying attention, this life wont just be yours anymore.
Some John Doe will get involved, so give up. Give up.
I NEED TO FIND ALL OF THE DISTURBING SONGS
I dont care if it goes in detail on something or it breaks your eardrumbs I need them
Since the UTAU and SynthV Lyrics Wikis have been merged with the VLW, it would be appropriate to rename this wiki to the Vocal Synth Lyrics wiki. Anyone else thinking the same?
hey friends!
so im looking for some vocaloid tracks with really good/difficult-to-play guitar lines, can anyone recommend some pls?
its for my friend who keeps asking me for songs to learn on guitar and he's very persistent.
thank u :]
so, n-buna's メリュー is shown on here (and on a lot of other places online) with the translated name "Mairieux", and I have some reasons as to why that translation/rendering is wrong
Mairieux is a very small village in France, and I suspect the reason メリュー was identified with that name is because French /ø/ (the name of the village is pronounced /mɛʁjø/) regularly becomes /u/ in Japanese transcriptions; see note below
while this tweet isn't backed up by any evidence, someone has come out saying that they themselves mistranslated メリュー as "Mairieux" years ago
the official YouTube upload of the song renders it as "Meru", and Vocaloid Wiki here on Fandom has updated the title of their Meru article as well some months ago
also, メリュー is apparently just someone's name (it's mentioned in another n-buna song, 昼青)
that all having been said, I think the article should be renamed to "Meru"
note:
[œ, ø] エ音に転写する(例:Göthe ゲーテ)場合(ドイツ語など)とウ段音に転写する(例:œuf ウフ)場合(主にフランス語)が多い。またヨに転写することがある(トルコ語など)。 [from the article on 外国語の日本語表記 on Wikipedia]
With the increasing amount of songs in project sekai I would like to propose creation of the following categories:
Category:Project Sekai
As well as the following subcategories if necessary:
Category:Leo/need
Category:More More Jump
Category:Vivid Bad Squad
Category:Wonderlands Showtime
Category:25 Nightcord
I would do this myself but I'd like permission from an admin or moderator first
This is kind of a weird question, but what's the protocol for songs written in japanese by people who aren't natives/have an unknown knowledge of the language, or whether we should use the native lyrics? I have two creators in mind.
Fish Radio by вездещящий
I'm unsure if anyone actually feels up to glancing over the lyrics to see if they look machine translated or not, but there are Russian lyrics provided by the creator.
Same scenario here, except with two separate versions provided.
Thanks for any help in advance^^'

Hey, I tried looking for lyrics for Wintry Winds, but couldn't find any. If someone knows the Japanese name for the song or can link me some lyrics, please do. ^^
So I noticed that Guest and Mitei are both listed as separate creators. However if you look at their vocaDB page, they're listed as the same person. Now I believe a couple other creators here are also their aliases, but that's a story for another day.
