Art Dave (also known as Art Dave Thai Indie Producer, formerly ArtDavidAlternativeMusic) is a Thai indie musician and vocal synth producer who creates rock music that incorporates elements of indie rock, psychedelic rock, jangle pop, shoegaze, grunge, and post-punk, drawing inspiration from the Manchester music scene.
Starting in 2007, he played rhythm guitar and bass in local cover bands focused on metal, classic rock, and alternative. In 2015, he began incorporating VOCALOID into his work under the name ArtDavidAlternativeMusic, later transitioning to Synthesizer V and other voice synthesizer programs like ACE Studio and CeVIO. He mostly used Megurine Luka in his early work, though he did feature CeVIO IA once. His most recent songs feature Eleanor Forte, Koharu Rikka, Xingchen, Haruno Sora, ANRI, JUN, and ROSE.
In 2018, rebranding as Art Dave, he released his first full-length album, "Megurine Luka Indie" featuring Megurine Luka. Following this, in 2019, he released "Sailormoongazer," an album featuring Eleanor Forte, which earned him widespread recognition within the Thai shoegaze scene. Art Dave writes songs primarily in English and Thai, but also incorporates other languages such as Chinese, Burmese, French, and English-based creoles (often Jamaican Creole in his reggae-influenced tracks, such as "All You Ever Gave Me Was Tomorrow"). His lyrics frequently explore themes of nostalgia, dreams, depression, and drug use, and sometimes pay tribute to anime characters and bands he admires. He also illustrates his own artwork in his later works. In his recent work, he occasionally uses a 12-string bass as a distinctive instrument.
Although he uses Vocaloid and SynthV programs, he prefers to be referred to as a "vocal synth" or "indie producer," having dismissed the label "Vocaloid producer" and considering himself more of an underground indie artist. He is currently focusing on indie music.
