Description According to Namuwiki, Jangsanbeom is one of the Korean imaginary monsters, which is said to be very good at imitating various kinds of sound. The legend says it visits humans’ houses and tries to let them open the door (which it cannot open by itself since it doesn’t have arms); once they did, it will devour them with its big mouth.

Translation Notes

The lyrics contain many idioms using body parts, all of which I think are adding a really fresh, or maybe flesh touch to the song.

↑ Literally translated, “Hiding my black belly and wearing a white cat.” In Japanese, a person with a black belly is someone who’s wicked, scheming, or black-hearted. On the other hand, a person who wears a cat is feigning innocence.
↑ 腹を割る is literally “to break one’s belly/stomach,” whereas it idiomatically means something like “to be frank.”
↑ Word-for-word translation for 舌を巻く would be “to roll one’s tongue,” but figuratively it means “to be amazed.”
↑ When taken literally 大口 is “big mouth,” but when used figuratively, its meaning is a bit different from the English “big mouth”: the Japanese “big mouth” usually indicates a person who always boasts or bluffs whilst the English one is more likely to refer to someone who talks about things that should be kept in secret.
