Japanese/Vietnamese Romaji English
遠くの空 回る花の 円陣の喧しさに tooku no sora mawaru hana no enjin no kamabisushisa ni In the distant sky, the clamor from a ring of spinning flowers
あの日や あの日に 超えてきた分岐が目を覚ます ano hi ya ano hi ni koete kita bunki ga me o samasu awakens the diverging paths I passed through that day, on that day

かげろうに身を借りて 道を指す娘を追い kagerou ni mi o karite michi o sasu musume o oi I followed a girl who showed me the way, an incarnation of the shimmering haze,[2]
高台に現れた 名も知らぬ広野は懐かしく takadai ni arawareta na mo shiranu hirono wa natsukashiku and high upon a hill appeared the nameless field I’d yearned for

あれが夢で見せた街と 影の声がささやいた are ga yume de miseta machi to kage no koe ga sasayaita The shadow whispered, “That is the city I showed you in your dreams,”
来る日も 来る日も 幾千の分岐を超えた時 kuru hi mo kuru hi mo ikusen no bunki o koeta toki day after day, upon passing through the countless branching paths

暗がりの賢人が 捨てられた日々を集め kuragari no kenjin ga suterareta hibi o atsume A wise man in the darkness gathered cast-off days,
海沿いに 海沿いに 見も知らぬ炎を躍らせた umizoi ni umizoi ni mimoshiranu honoo o odoraseta and along the coast, along the coast, made to dance a strange, unknown flame

あーマントルが饒舌に火を吹き上げて aa mantoru ga jouzetsu ni hi o fukiagete Ah, the mantle loquaciously fans up the flame
捨てられた野に立つ人を祝うよ suterareta no ni tatsu hito o iwau yo and congratulates those standing in the abandoned field
あー静かな静かな娘の視野で aa shizuka na shizuka na musume no shiya de Ah, before the eyes of the silent, silent girl
あー見知らぬ都に灯が灯りだす aa mishiranu miyako ni hi ga tomoridasu ah, the lights[3] begin to burn in the unknown capital

Xin chào các bạn Xin chào các bạn Hello, everyone
Đây là quê hương của chúng tôi Đây là quê hương của chúng tôi This is our homeland
Đây là tương lai của chúng tôi Đây là tương lai của chúng tôi This is our future

高く空 朱に染め 火の燃えるごとくの雲模様 takaku sora shu ni some hi no moeru gotoku no kumo moyou High in the sky, a pattern of clouds dyed red like a burning flame
あの日や あの日や あの時に無くした道を見せ ano hi ya ano hi ya ano toki ni nakushita michi o mise showed me the road I had lost that day, that day

繰り返し夢に吹く 風を追い時を下り kurikaeshi yume ni fuku kaze o oi toki o kudari Pursuing the wind that oft blows in my dreams, I descended time,
川沿に 川沿いに 見も知らぬ至福の花を見た kawazoi ni kawazoi ni mimoshiranu shifuku no hana o mita and along the riverside, along the riverside, beheld an unknown flower of joy

あー見知らぬ都に灯が灯りだす aa mishiranu miyako ni hi ga tomoridasu ah, the lights begin to burn in the unknown capital

あー見知らぬ都に灯が灯りだす aa mishiranu miyako ni hi ga tomoridasu ah, the lights begin to burn in the unknown capital

References[]

  1. There is a place in Vietnam known as the Bạch Hổ oilfield, which translates to “White Tiger oilfield”. “Byakko” by itself is the name of one of the Four Symbols of the Chinese constellations (as well as the name of another song on the album “Byakkoya”).
  2. Kagerou can mean either “heat haze; shimmer of hot air” or “mayfly; ephemera”, depending on the kanji, although no kanji are used here. However, the latter word seems to be written more often in katakana, while kagerou here is written in hiragana, so I have decided to go with the former meaning for now.
  3. This is probably “light” as in “lamp.” The imagery of a capital’s lights (都の灯) being lit also appears in the song “Moon Time.”
