Chinese Pinyin English
被摔碎了 那一朵不规则的花苞 Bèi shuāisuì le nà yī duǒ bù guīzé de huābāo It’s dropped and shattered, that irregular flower bud
梦境在烈日下干涸 失去了光 mèngjìng zài lièrì xià gānhé shīqù le guāng The dreamscape dries up under the scorching sun, as the world’s gone dark

蒸发一整个大洋 所有情感无处可逃 zhēngfā yī zhěnggè dàyáng suǒyǒu qínggǎn wúchù kě táo An entire ocean evaporated, with no single shard of passion able to escape its fate
水母收起她 花纹触角 躲避着被灼烧 shuǐmǔ shōu qǐ tā huāwén chùjiǎo duǒbì zhe bèi zhuó shāo The jellyfish accepts her into their fold, with their tentacles adorned with a decorative pattern, evading to being scorched apart

她曾住在无色玻璃杯 数着折射的彩虹入睡 tā céng zhù zài wúsè bōlí bēi shù zhe zhéshè de cǎihóng rùshuì She used to live in a colourless drinking glass, counting the refracted rainbows as she falls into slumber
曾为谁陶醉 为谁自我麻痹崩溃 幻化千百种回味 céng wèi shéi táozuì wèi shéi zìwǒ mábì bēngkuì huànhuà qiānbǎi zhǒng huíwèi She used to be infatuated with somebody, used to numb her being as her self crumbles, as she transforms herself into a myriad kind of flavours

被摔碎了 无调式含蓄的点缀 bèi shuāisuì le wú diàoshì hánxù de diǎnzhuì It’s dropped and shattered, the atonal[1] garnish contained within
遵循光线所指方向 等待切割 zūnxún guāngxiàn suǒ zhǐ fāngxiàng děngdài qiēgē Following the direction the light shines, she waits to be cut apart

履带上安静列队 咏叹方式合乎尺规 lǚdài shàng ānjìng lièduì yǒngtàn fāngshì héhū chǐguī Quietly lining up a formation upon the caterpillar tracks[2], the method of singing conforming to measurements
拥簇在托盘 熠熠生辉 需要服侍的是谁 yōngcù zài tuōpán yìyì shēnghuī xūyào fúshi de shì shéi Clustering around the serving tray, a dazzling gleam, who may I be of service to?

成为一只坚硬玻璃杯 每个棱角都重塑完美 chéngwéi yī zhǐ jiānyìng bōlí bēi měi gè léngjiǎo dōu chóngsù wánměi As she becomes a solid drinking glass, each of her edges and corners remodels perfection
无色的酒水 也因它被升华尊贵 与假面舞会相配 wúsè de jiǔshuǐ yě yīn tā bèi shēnghuá zūnguì yǔ jiǎmiàn wǔhuì xiāngpèi The colourless hard drink in that glass is elevated to a higher sophistication, matching well to a masquerade ball[3]
与被需要的美相配 yǔ bèi xūyào de měi xiāngpèi Matching well to a needed beauty
成为一只透明的玻璃杯 演绎规范的美 chéngwéi yī zhǐ tòumíng de bōlí bēi yǎnyì guīfàn de měi She becomes a transparent drinking glass, developing a beauty within norms

浪花抚过坚硬玻璃杯 lànghuā fǔ guò jiānyìng bōlí bēi The ocean foams stroke against that solid drinking glass
每个弧度都拷贝完美 měi gè húdù dōu kǎobèi wánměi Each of its curves has copied perfection
曾为谁陶醉 为谁自我麻痹崩溃 céng wèi shéi táozuì wèi shéi zìwǒ mábì bēngkuì She used to be infatuated with somebody, used to numb her being as her self crumbles
茶余饭后都不配 cháyúfànhòu dōu bùpèi Back then she was completely unsuitable to be brought for any leisurely chat and tea time

English translation by CoolMikeHatsune22

Translation Notes[]

  1. 无调式 ‘without a (musical) mode’ refers to a subset of music that lacks a tonal center, or key, the technical name being ‘atonality’.
  2. 履带 ‘continuous tracks/caterpillar tracks’ refer to the tracks/treads of certain kinds of vehicles, such as bulldozers, tractors, or tanks, that they use to move around in place of wheels.
  3. Strictly speaking, this sentence would have to be translated as ‘the colourless hard drink, too is elevated to a higher sophistication because of it’. The identity of ‘it’ isn’t specified in this song, but I’ve interpreted it to be ‘the former girl, who’s now become a solid drinking glass’
