This song is told from the perspective of 潘金蓮 Pan Jinlian, a major character in 金瓶梅 Jin Ping Mei, a classic 17th century Chinese novel based on the older classic 水滸傳 Water Margin. While Jinlian and her second husband, 西門慶 Ximen Qing, are minor characters in Water Margin, their sexual debauchery and its tragic consequences are detailed in Jin Ping Mei.

↑ While the on-screen lyrics say 嫵媚風流 wǔmèi fēngliú, Tinayi sings 風流嫵媚 fēngliú wǔmèi.
↑ A line from both Water Margin and Jin Ping Mei describing 武大郎 Wu Dalang, Pan Jinlian's first husband. 尺 and 寸 are both traditional Chinese units, close to feet and inches.
