Lyrics

Japanese Romaji English
さあ 独り占めしよう saa hitorijime shiyou Now, I’ll keep them all to myself.
最高だった思い出を saikou datta omoide o I repaint my greatest memories
最低に塗り替えて saitei ni nurikaete until they’re the absolute worst.

な いっそのことさ na isso no koto sa Or, better yet,
死んじまってくれないか shinjimatte kurenai ka couldn’t they just die for me?
もう戻れないのなら mou modorenai no nara If there’s no turning back anymore, then…

これで終わりだ なんて kore de owari da nante I could never just lament it all
嘆いてなんてられない nageite nante rarenai with a “This is the end!”
いつまでここにいるんだ itsu made koko ni irun da How long will I be here?
龍の鳴き声がきこえる ryuu no nakigoe ga kikoeru I can hear the dragon’s roar.

九龍城から飛び降りたら kuuronjou kara tobioritara When I flung myself off of Kowloon Castle,[1]
あれ以上の幸せはないと気づいた are ijou no shiawase wa nai to kizuita I realized that there was no greater happiness than that.
九龍城から飛び降りたら kuuronjou kara tobioritara When I fling myself off of Kowloon Castle,
痛みだけ残していこう itami dake nokoshite ikou I’ll leave only my pain behind.

散々 独り占めした sanzan hitorijime shita I’ve kept them all completely to myself.
抱えきれず腐るくらい kakaekirezu kusaru kurai I’m unable to handle them all, so much so that they rot,
求める程に傷ついて motomeru hodo ni kizutsuite and the more I seek them out, the more damaged I become.

なら いっそのことさ nara isso no koto sa Well then, better yet,
開き直ってしまおうか hirakinaotte shimaou ka should I start fighting back?
取り返しはつけないから torikaeshi wa tsukenai kara Since they can’t be undone.

これが終わりだ なんて kore ga owari da nante I could never just call it and decide that
決められる筈もないし kimerareru hazu mo nai shi “This is the end!”
どこにも帰れないんだ doko ni mo kaerenain da I have nowhere to come home to.
龍はまだ傍にいるのに ryuu wa mada soba ni iru no ni Even though the dragon is still by my side…

九龍城から飛び降りたら kuuronjou kara tobioritara When I flung myself off of Kowloon Castle,
この思い出は手放せないと気づいた kono omoide wa tebanasenai to kizuita I realized that I can’t let go of these memories.
桃源郷から飛び出したら tougenkyou kara tobidashitara When I fly away from paradise,[2]
心だけ残していこう kokoro dake nokoshite ikou I’ll leave only my heart behind.

九龍城から飛び降りたら kuuronjou kara tobioritara When I flung myself off of Kowloon Castle,
あれ以上の幸せはないと気づいた are ijou no shiawase wa nai to kizuita I realized that there was no greater happiness than that.
九龍城から飛び降りたら kuuronjou kara tobioritara When I fling myself off of Kowloon Castle,
祈りだけ残していこう inori dake nokoshite ikou I’ll leave only my prayers behind.

Translation Notes

  1. All that comes up in search results for either 九龍城 or くうろんじょう is the Kowloon Walled City. Essentially, it is an area that, through a political loophole or two, was for a long time a lawless and ungoverned slum district that spanned about a few city blocks. Though it is not called a “castle” in English, the suffix 城 meaning “castle” or “palace” is used in the original lyrics, so that’s what I ended up using.
  2. The word used here is 桃源郷, “The Peach Blossom Spring,” which refers to a sort of natural paradise on Earth written about in a fable by Tao Yuanming.
