Lyrics

Japanese Romaji English
お前さんを待つ その人はきっと omae-san o matsu sono hito wa kitto The person that is waiting for you
寂しい思いなぞ させはしない sabishii omoi nazo sase wa shinai Will definitely not make you feel any lonesome feelings
少なくとも 少なくとも sukunaku to mo sukunaku to mo At the very least, at the very least

お前さんの会う その人はきっと omae-san no au sono hito wa kitto The person that you are going to meet
寂しい思いなぞ させはしない sabishii omoi nazo sase wa shinai Will definitely not make you feel any lonesome feelings
少なくとも 少なくとも sukunaku to mo sukunaku to mo At the very least, at the very least

路上に捨てくされ やるせなさ rojou ni sutekusare yarusenasa Your feelings of discouragement were abandoned on the road,
途上にふてくされ やる気なし tojou ni futekusare yaruki nashi And you sulk in dejection on the journey, lacking motivation
愛は出会い・別れ・透けた布キレ ai wa deai wakare suketa nunokire Love is an encounter, a parting, a transparent piece of veil
恐山ル・ヴォワール osorezanru vowaaru Let us meet at Mount Osore

黒い千羽鶴 その人はじっと kuroi senbazuru sono hito wa jitto A thousand folded paper cranes in black;[1] that person has patiently
さびしい重い謎 かかえ夜 sabishii omoi nazo kakae yoru Been carrying lonesome, heavy secrets throughout the nights
折れなくとも 折れなくとも orenaku to mo orenaku to mo Even if they're unfoldable, even if they're unfoldable

黒い千羽鶴 その人はじっと kuroi senbazuru sono hito wa jitto A thousand folded paper cranes in black; that person has patiently
さびしい重い謎 かかえ昼 sabishii omoi nazo kakae hiru Been carrying lonesome, heavy secrets throughout the days
折れなくとも 折れなくとも orenaku tomo orenaku tomo Even if they're unfoldable, even if they're unfoldable

気丈にふるまえど ほころんで kijou ni furumaedo hokoronde Though she behaves stout-heartedly, she smiles broadly
無性にブロマイド 欲しくなり mushou ni buromaido hoshikunari And longs irresistibly for a bromide
愛は出会い・別れ・透けた布キレ ai wa deai wakare suketa nunokire Love is an encounter, a parting, a transparent piece of veil
恐山ル・ヴォワール osorezanru vowaaru Let us meet at Mount Osore

齢千余年 小生はやっと yowai senyonen shousei wa yatto After a thousand years, I shall finally
さびしい思いから はなれます sabishii omoi kara hanaremasu Drift away from these lonesome feelings
はかなくとも はかなくとも hakanaku to mo hakanaku to mo Even if they are ever so fleeting, even if they are ever so fleeting

弱いこの心 小生はやっと yowai kono kokoro shousei wa yatto This weak heart of mine; I shall finally
さびしい重い殻 はがれます sabishii omoi kara hagaremasu Peel off this lonesome, heavy shell of mine
墓なくとも 墓なくとも haka naku to mo haka naku to mo Even without a grave, even without a grave

衆生に長らえど せつなくて shujou ni nagaraedo setsunakute Though I have lived a long time in this world, it is still painful
賀正に出会えたら うれしくて gashou ni deaetara ureshikute Hence I was very delighted to meet you during the New Year
愛は出会い・別れ・透けた布キレ ai wa deai wakare suketa nunokire Love is an encounter, a parting, a transparent piece of veil
恐山ル・ヴォワール osorezanru vowaaru Let us meet at Mount Osore

不肖の身なれども この度は fushou no mi naredo mo kono tabi wa Though I am unworthy, I shall now
至上の喜びと ちりぬるを shijou no yorokobi to chirinuru o Scatter along with my supreme happiness
非情に思われど 気にはせぬ hijou ni omowaredo ki ni wa senu It’s alright if you think that I have acted heartlessly,
微笑のひとつでも くりゃりゃんせ bishou no hitotsu demo kuryaryanse But can you greet me with even one smile the next time we meet?

慕情にも ならぬ この詩も bojou ni mo naranu kono uta mo This song is barely capable of delivering my feelings of adoration
以上をもちまして 終わります ijou o mochimashite owarimasu Yet even it must end here, once and for all

頭上に輝くは どの国ぞ zujou ni kagayaku wa dono kuni zo I wonder what that shining land above me is
地蔵さまおわす あそこかな jizou-sama owasu asoko kana I suppose it’s where Jizou-sama sits
愛は出会い・別れ・透けた布キレ ai wa deai wakare suketa nunokire Love is an encounter, a parting, a transparent piece of veil
恐山ル・ヴォワール osorezanru vowaaru Let us meet at Mount Osore

恐山オー ル・ヴォワール osorezan oo ru vowaaru Let us depart at Mount Osore

Translation Notes

  1. In Japan, paper cranes (senbazuru) are considered auspicious and are usually folded as gifts. However, some say that black origami paper shouldn’t be used when folding paper cranes as the colour symbolises death and misfortune.
