Japanese | Romaji | English |
幾千の |
ikusen no tsuwamono no kabane koete | Crossing over the corpses of thousands of warriors, |
我が前に躍り出た 穢れ知らぬ『 |
waga mae ni odorideta kegare shiranu otome | a pure maiden sprung out before my eyes.[2] |
ikusaba o maiodoru hane wa kibou | Her wings dancing on the battleground are hope. | |
残さず握り潰そう 飛べない様に | nokosazu nigiritsubusou tobenai you ni | I’ll crush them, leaving none behind, so she can’t fly. |
さあ その剣を抜き 踊り明かそう | saa sono ken o nuki odoriakasou | Now, draw your sword and dance all night |
その胸の時計の針 止まるまで | sono mune no tokei no hari tomaru made | until the hands of your heart’s clock stop. |
火花散る白銀の逢瀬に | hibana chiru shirogane no ouse ni | At the silver tryst, where sparks fly, |
一層美しく羽ばたき舞い踊る 恐れ知らぬ蝶 | issou utsukushiku habataki maiodoru osore shiranu chou | a fearless butterfly flaps its wings more beautifully and dances. |
敗北を知らぬ目が綺麗で | haiboku o shiranu me ga kirei de | Eyes that do not know defeat are beautiful. |
いっそ絶望の糸深く絡み付け 縛ろうか | isso zetsubou no ito fukaku karamitsuke shibarou ka | Wouldn’t I rather bind them, with threads of despair deeply coiled ‘round? |
長くない人生のほぼ全てを | nagakunai jinsei no hobo subete o | The youth spent almost all of their short life[3] |
唯、一人討つ為に 費やした『 |
tada, hitori utsu tame ni tsuiyashita wakamono | to defeat a single person. |
その強さ 剣捌き 実に見事 | sono tsuyosa kensabaki jitsu ni migoto | Their strength and swordsmanship was truly magnificent. |
だがまだ届きはしない この心臓に | da ga mada todoki wa shinai kono shinzou ni | Still, they won’t reach my heart yet. |
なあ まだ眠るなよ 夜はこれから | naa mada nemuru na yo yoru wa kore kara | Come on, don’t fall asleep yet. The night’s just starting! |
その胸の時計の針 止めてみろ | sono mune no tokei no hari tomete miro | Try and stop the hands of my heart’s clock. |
揺るぎなき |
yuruginaki kissaki wa muryoku de | My steady sword tip is powerless. |
いっそ諦めれば楽になれるのに 手の中 藻掻く蝶 | isso akiramereba raku ni nareru no ni te no naka mogaku chou | The butterfly struggles in my hand, though it would sooner be at ease if it gave up. |
悔しさに濡れる目に見蕩れて | kuyashisa ni nureru me ni mitorete | I’m charmed by its eyes, wet with chagrin. |
いっそ他の誰にも奪われぬ様に 喰らおうか | isso hoka no dare ni mo ubawarenu you ni kuraou ka | Shall I devour it so it won’t be stolen away by anyone else? |
さあ この手を掴み 共に生きよう | saa kono te o tsukami tomo ni ikiyou | Now, take my hand and let’s live together |
お互いの時計の針 止まるまで | otagai no tokei no hari tomaru made | until our clocks’ hands stop. |
答えなど聞かぬまま貫く 心臓 | kotae nado kikanu mama tsuranuku shinzou | I pierced her heart without hearing her answer. |
人など辞めて此方へ |
hito nado yamete kochira e oide tenshidai no chou | Give up on your humanity and come here, butterfly on the specimen stand. |
朱に沈むその姿 綺麗で | shu ni shizumu sono sugata kirei de | Your figure, sinking into scarlet, is so beautiful. |
ずっと逃がしはしない 眠り姫へ今 口づけを | zutto nigashi wa shinai nemurihime e ima kuchizuke o | I’ll never let you escape. Now, I kiss Sleeping Beauty. |

Translation Notes
- ↑ The title is translated here as ‘outstretched wings’, but it literally refers to an insect whose wings have been extended for use as a specimen or display. Incidentally, 展翅 (tenshi) is pronounced the same as 天使 (tenshi – angel).
- ↑ 蝶 (chou – butterfly) is written, but 乙女 (otome – maiden) is sung.
- ↑ 勇者 (yuusha – hero) is written, but 若者 (wakamono – youth) is sung.
