Lyrics
Japanese | Romaji | English |
人生半ばで壊れました | jinsei nakaba de kowaremashita | My life has been broken in half |
余命数十年残して | yomei suujuunen nokoshite | I have ten years left of my life |
聞こえた | kikoeta | I heard a voice– |
お兄さんこちらと 天なる方へ | oniisan kochira to ten naru hou e | This way, mister, where the heavens ring[2] |
十五数えて空に飛び込んだ | juugo kazoete sora ni tobikonda | I counted to fifteen, jumped into the sky |
ハリボテの羽広げて | haribote no hane hirogete | and spread out my paper-mache wings |
そういう終わりも悪くはないかと | sou iu owari mo waruku wa nai ka to | That kind of ending doesn’t seem so bad, |
無い頭で考える | nai atama de kangaeru | I think, with a missing head |
あぁ らんらんらんら らんららんら… | aa ran ran ranra ranra ranra… | Ah, ran ran ranra, ranra ranra |
さっさと逝けよ | sassato ike yo | Quickly, head off into the next world. |
人間観察始めました | ningen kansatsu hajimemashita | People have begun to observe me. |
黒枠にはめられサヨナラ | kurowaku ni hamerare sayonara | A farewell is trapped in a black frame |
下界じゃ 四十九日すりゃ皆笑ってら | gekai ja yonjuu kyuu nichi surya minna warattera | In this world, people laugh when the 49th day ceremony is conducted |
六つ鐘鳴り街を駆け抜けた | muttsu kane nari machi o kakenuketa | I race out into the city as the six bells ring |
一人東から西へ | hitori higashi kara nishi e | Alone, I run from east to west |
こんなはずじゃなかったと灰になり | konna hazu ja nakatta to hai ni nari | This shouldn’t have been, I think as I turn into dust |
昇る満月を睨む | noboru mangetsu o niramu | The full moon rising stares back at me |
あぁ らんらんらんら らんららんら… | aa ran ran ranra ranra ranra… | Ah, ran ran ranra, ranra ranra |
ほら とっとと化けろ | hora tottoto bakero | Come on, chop-chop, transform yourself. |
人間半ばで壊れました | ningen nakaba de kowaremashita | Humanity has been broken in half |
余命数十年残して | yomei suujuunen nokoshite | It has ten years left of its life |
声はお兄さんどちらへお逃げになるの | koe wa oniisan dochira e onige ni naru no | The voice says, 'Mister, which way did you run off to?' |
どこへ行っても同じよ | doko e itte mo onaji yo | Wherever I go, it’s all the same |
丑三つ数えて空は落ちてった | ushimitsu kazoete sora wa ochitetta | Counting to the devil’s hour[3], the sky had fallen |
愁い未来も弾けて | urei mirai mo hajikete | It splits apart a sorrowful future |
泣いてる少年嘲笑うように | naiteru shounen azawarau you ni | As if to mock a sobbing boy, |
エンドロールは流れる | endorooru wa nagareru | the endroll plays |
十五数えて空に飛び込んだ | juugo kazoete sora ni tobikonda | I counted to fifteen, jumped into the sky |
ハリボテの羽広げて | haribote no hane hirogete | and spread out my paper-mache wings |
そういう終わりも悪くはないかと | sou iu owari mo waruku wa nai ka to | That kind of ending doesn’t seem so bad, |
枯れた声で唄い出す | kareta koe de utaidasu | I sing out, with a withered voice |
あぁ らんらんらんら らんららんら… | aa ran ran ranra ranra ranra… | Ah, ran ran ranra, ranra ranra |
もう時間だし寝よ | mou tokidashi neyo | It’s now time to go to sleep (die).[4] |
English translation by odakuram
Translation Notes
- ↑ 四十九日 (shijuukunichi) refers to the 49th day after the death of a person, where a memorial service is usually held.
- ↑ Possibly a pun on 手の鳴る方へ (To the sound of clapping)
- ↑ 丑三つ時 (literally 'the time of three oxes') refers to the witching hour/third quarter of the hour of the ox (specifically 2-3 am)
- ↑ The whole line means 'It's now time, go to sleep', but the characters reading 'shine' together also implies the meaning of 'die' (死ね). Almost definitely not a coincidence.
