Translation Notes[]
- ↑ 顔面セーフ(ganmen seefu/face safe) is the term for the rule in dodge-ball where if you get hit in the face you’re still in the game.
- ↑ This is probably a reference to “あたり前田のクラッカー”(atari maeda no cracker), which, apart from being a big brand name today, was a famous gag stemming from popular 60s show てなもんや三度笠(tenamonya sandogasa).
- ↑ Term used here is one of Chibita's catchphrases, てやんでい(teyandei)
- ↑ なんじゃらっほい(nanjarahoi) is a really old-fashion (like, edo-period old) phrase basically meaning "what?" I wonder if it was used a lot in the 60s?
- ↑ どどんぱ(dodonpa) is an attack from DBZ. Literally it's "boom wave."
- ↑ チャンバラ (chanbara) is the sound effect of clashing swords used to mean sword play. Also the name of the samurai movie genre. Play on お疲れちゃん(otsukare-chan), cutesy slang for Otsukare-sama (”Thanks for your hard work”).
- ↑ ばっははーい(ba'hahaai) (as in "bye") is a catchphrase of the character from 1966-1970 kid's show, Keroyon.
