Description
""I'm the 30m-haired grim reaper, Potential0. Without really meaning to, I've come to my ninth work. I'd be glad if it helps you to not worry about the little things as you move your head to the music. This year once again, Obon ended before I knew it, and I grew sentimental. This is something I wrote while struck by the sense of transience in how both the good and the bad disappear into the nights of summer and are replaced by the new!" |
Lyrics
Japanese | Romaji | English |
| akane sasu yuusuzumi. | The sky grows crimson in the evening cool. |
| zankou ga nouri de yuraideru. | Its afterglow sways in my mind. |
遠い夏の夢に | tooi natsu no yume ni | That silhouette looked up |
| miageta kageboushi. | Towards a faraway summer dream. |
通い慣れた商店街は | kayoi nareta shoutengai wa | In the commercial shopping district that I frequent, |
人もまばらで、 | hito mo mabara de, | The people here are sparse, |
kaeru tabi ni mune o | and my chest tightens up
| shimetsukeru. | Every time I return home. |
| hora, omoidasu. | See, I remember. |
| ano keidai ni kimi o tsurete. | How I took you to those shrine grounds. |
| matsuribayashi wa tooku, kaze majiri. | The festival music is far away, the sound mixed with the wind. |
| shararin. shararin. | Twang. Twang.[1] |
ふわり香る | fuwari kaoru | A gentle scent wafts. |
その瞬間に髪が触れて | sono shunkan ni kami ga furete | In that moment, my hair is touched |
はらんだ風はただ、 | haranda kaze wa tada, | And the swelling wind is merely, |
| netsu obite. | tinged with that heat. |
嗚呼、ゆらり溶ける | aa, yurari tokeru | Ah, it melts gently away. |
水面鏡は月を撫でて、 | suimenkyou wa tsuki o nadete, | The reflection on the water caresses the moon, |
| ichigo jamu no tsuita hou terasu. | and it shines on my strawberry jam-stained cheeks. |
流れゆく時間だけが | nagare yuku jikan dake ga | The passage of time just |
| bokura no te ni futte ochite. | falls into our hands. |
泣いてみようか、 | naite miyou ka, | Shall we try crying? |
Time is over. | Time is over. | Time is over. |
| yubi no sukima surinukete iku kara. | It slips through the gaps of our fingers, after all. |
燃え盛る炎がまた | moe sakaru honoo ga mata | The blazing fire exploded again, |
| tsukiyo o se ni matte hazeta. | dancing against the moonlit sky. |
祈ってみようが、 | inotte miyou ga, | We tried praying, |
拝んでみようが、 | ogande miyou ga, | we tried supplicating, |
| kizu mo omokage mo, hakanaku kieta. | But both those scars and that image disappeared in an instant. |
fuki yanda nagi no itoma ni yosete, | Taken in by a calm leisure as the wind ceased blowing, |
| miageta kageboushi. | The silhouette looked up. |
hizunde ita. | It became distorted.
| saa, akane sasu yuusuzumi. | Now then, the sky grows crimson in the evening cool. |
| zankyou ga nouri ni hari tsuite. | Its reverberation sticks in my mind. |
遠い夢、笛の音に | tooi yume, fue no ne ni | The firelight swayed |
| hokage ga yureta. | to the sound of a flute in a faraway dream. |
| ima wa yume no naka. | We are now inside a dream. |
藍錆の街並と | ai sabi no machinami to | The indigo-rusted townscape |
| zankou ga rojiura nijinderu. | and the afterglow seep through the back alleys. |
遠い夏の夜に | tooi natsu no yoru ni | On a faraway summer night, |
| shiranui[2] yurameite. | The unknown fire flickers. |
| oka no mukou. | It's on the other side of the hill. |
あの鉄塔の線を抜けて | ano tettou no sen o nukete | That swelling wind that rushed through |
はらんだ風いまだ、 | haranda kaze imada, | the lines of that steel tower is still, |
| netsu obite. | tinged with that heat. |
嗚呼、ゆらり溶ける | aa, yurari tokeru | Ah, it melts gently away. |
水面鏡の月を撫でて、 | suimenkyou no tsuki o nadete, | Caressing the moon in the reflection on the water, |
| ichigo jamu o fuita. | I wiped away the strawberry jam. |
| kaze, azami yurashite. | The wind shakes the thistles. |
ひとつ、ふたつ無くしていく | hitotsu, futatsu naku shite iku | I lose it once or twice. |
| kakurenbou. | It's hide-and-seek. |
誓った約束も | chikatta yakusoku mo | Will I be able to keep myself from forgetting |
| nagai kage nobita kaerimichi. | both the promise we vowed to uphold |
| wasurezu ireru kana. | and the path home that long shadows stretched over? |
| kata nurasu yuushigure. | An evening shower soaks my shoulders. |
| zankyou ga komaku ni yakitsuite. | Its reverberation is etched into my eardrums. |
土の匂い、雨音に | tsuchi no nioi, amaoto ni | At the scent of earth, the sound of rain, |
| jarari to nureta. | they were soaked with a clatter.[3] |
| zenbu yume no naka. | All of it, inside a dream. |
somosan seppa no yaritori de | In a heated back-and-forth exchange,[4]
| tagai no tame da to usobuita. | we boasted that we each did it for the other's sake. |
| tooi natsu no yoru. | A faraway summer night. |
| ano hi ni kaerou ka. | Shall we go back to that day? |
。 | nante omottari.. | But even thinking such things... |
| akane sasu yuusuzumi. | The sky grows crimson in the evening cool. |
| zanzou ga nouri ni haritsuita mama. | Its afterimage is still burned into my mind. |
淡い記憶、鈴の音に | awai kioku, suzu no ne ni | A fleeting memory, the firelight swayed |
| hokage ga yureta. | to the sound of a bell. |
| subete yume no naka. | This all is inside a dream. |
藍錆の街並と | ai sabi no machi nami to | The indigo-rusted townscape |
| zankou ga rojiura nijinderu. | and the afterglow seep through the back alleys. |
遠い夏の夜に | tooi natsu no yoru ni | On a faraway summer night, |
| shiranui yurameite. | The unknown fire flickers. |
| tooku, tooku fue no oto wa kiete iku. | The distant, distant sound of the flute fades away. |

Translation Notes
- ↑ しゃらりん is the high-pitched sound a guitar makes when you strum it.
- ↑ A Shiranui (unknown fire) is a atmospheric ghost light told about in Kyushu. They are said to appear on days of the noon moon
- ↑ じゃらり refers to a noise made by many small, hard objects, such as pebbles or coins, knocking against each other.
- ↑ This is something that apparently emerged from Song dynasty China. Someone asking a question says 什麼生 which is understood to mean "can you answer?" while the person answering the question replies with 説破 "I'll answer!" It refers to this sort of back-and-forth question-and-answer exchange.
- ↑ しゃらん is the same thing as しゃらりん, just a little lower in pitch.
