Translation Notes[]
- ↑ 1.0 1.1 1.2 The title is a little bit interesting. While buta is unarguably “pig,” sandaa can be interpreted in at least two ways: the English “thunder,” or the Japanese honorific “san” that’s added to a person’s (in this case, an animal’s) name (like the English “Mr.” or “Ms.”) + “da(a),” a predicative copula.
- ↑ This line is actually rather ambiguous, but I believe that “A pig sandwich” is the safest and most probable translation because (a) the Japanese sando is often used as an abbreviation of “sandwich” (e.g., たまごサンド tamago sando - egg sandwich) unlike the English “sand,” and (b) Yuki is indeed sandwiched by two pigs in the music video. Something like “Sandwiched by pigs” would work as well.
- ↑ Ton is just another reading of the kanji 豚, which is “pig” of course. You can find it in tonkotsu (ramen whose soup broth is based on pork bones) or tonkatsu (deep-fried pork cutlet). I could go with “Swine, swine, swine, swine” as well, but I wanted to make it sound cuter, so it’s “oink” now.
