そのドアが閉じるのは、 | sono doa ga tojiru no wa, | As soon as that door closes, |
この時間だって知っている。 | kono jikan datte shitte iru. | I know it's time. |
私は何回も試したんだ。 | watashi wa nankai mo tameshita nda. | I have already tried everything. |
今度こそ失敗しないようにって、 | kondo koso shippai shinai you ni tte, | But to make sure I didn't fail this time, |
おまもりだって沢山作ったんだから。 | omamori datte takusan tsukutta ndakara. | I made a lot of good luck charms. |
いま会いに行くよ。 | ima ai ni iku yo. | I'm coming to see you now. |
「失敗ね。」 | "shippai ne." | "I failed." |
割れた烏達。 | wareta karasutachi. | The crows parted ways. |
もうないね。 | mou nai ne. | There's no more. |
明日はどれにしよう。 | ashita wa dore ni shiyou. | Which one shall I pick tomorrow? |
「約束だ。」 | "yakusoku da." | "It's a promise." |
異える朝の違常。 | tagaeru asa no ijou. | I took back that morning's mistake.[2] |
題名は貴方が眠れるように。 | daimei wa anata ga nemureru you ni. | This title holds all my wishes for you to sleep. |
命を幸せに過ごすために必要なものは何ですか? | inochi o shiawase ni sugosu tame ni hitsuyou na mono wa nan desu ka? | What do you need to spend all your days living happily? |
欲しいものは[私が]全eeeeeeeee部[私が]用意してあげるから、 | hoshii mono wa [watashi ga] zeeeeeeeeeenbu [watashi ga] youi shite ageru kara, | [Tell me] if there's anything you want, [tell me and] I will get eeeeeeeeverything you ask,[3] |
[貴方はどうぞ]この柔らかいお布団で[貴方はどうぞ]眠っていてください。 | [anata wa douzo] kono yawarakai ofuton de [anata wa douzo] nemutte ite kudasai. | So don't worry, [go ahead and] snuggle up in this soft bed and [go ahead and] sleep tight. |
お空は昨日から哀しい雨ばかり落としていて、 | osora wa kinou kara kanashii ame bakari otoshite ite, | A sorrowful rain has been pouring all day long since yesterday, |
お外は今日だってとっても危ないままなんですから。 | osoto wa kyou datte tottemo abunai mama nandesu kara. | So it's still very dangerous to go outside today. |
ほら、変りにクマさんの絵を描いてあげましょう。 | hora, kawari ni kuma-san no e o kaite agemashou. | Here, let me make you a drawing of a cute little bear to change things up.[4] |
こんな鍵は捨ててしまいましょうね? | konna kagi wa sutete shimaimashou ne? | We can throw this key away, right? |

私は、とっておきの熱帯魚だった。 | watashi wa, totte oki no nettaigyo datta. | I was a treasured tropical fish. |
ガラスの想像はずっと素敵だから、 | garasu no souzou wa zutto suteki dakara, | The glass fantasies I saw were so very wonderful, |

Translation Notes[]
- ↑ In the title, the verb 眠る ("nemuru", meaning "to sleep") is written as 寝夢る (where 寝 also has meanings of "going to sleep" or "going to bed", while 夢 means "dream").
- ↑ The words 違える ("tagaeru", meaning "to go against" or "to break a promise") and 異常 ("ijou", meaning "abnormality") are written with their kanjis switched. While both of them have the meaning of "different", the kanji 違 is more "different (from how it should be)" while 異 is more "different (from the usual)". Because of that, I translated 違常 as "mistake".
- ↑ In the original line, the words in brackets just say "I". In Japanese, first person pronouns are often omitted when it's obvious that you're talking about yourself, so specifying them when it's not necessary to do so usually makes it sound like you're emphasizing yourself.
- ↑ 変りに ("for a change" in this context) is pronounced the same as the more common 代わりに, which just means "instead".
- ↑ Lullaby is usually written as 子守唄, but here it's written as 孤守唄, with the kanji for "child", 子, replaced by the kanji for "loneliness" (and also "orphan"), 孤.
