Description
Theme song for character Gustav Heydrich from app game NND #COMPASS. |
Lyrics
Japanese | Romaji | English |
モノクロで劇的な渚のマイウェー | monokuro de gekiteki na nagisa no maiuee | The dramatic shoreline in monochrome is my way[1] |
論理的な言葉がやけに疲れて | ronriteki na kotoba ga yake ni tsukarete | The logical words were awfully worn out |
リアリティーだけ切り取ったその姿 | riaritii dake kiritotta sono sugata | You, a figure cut out from only reality, |
僕の視界まで 君だけが加速してゆくの | boku no shikai made kimi dake ga kasoku shite yuku no | Until you entered my vision, you alone were speeding up |
何もない日々を 知ってまた僕は | nani mo nai hibi o shitte mata boku wa | Knowing well these days of nothing, |
きっとボロボロになるのだろう | kitto boroboro ni naru no darou | Surely I'll become worn out again. |
凍えたいのは この世界だ | kogoetai no wa kono sekai da | But what I want to freeze over is this world |
Hello 新しい部屋に鍵をかけて | Hello atarashii heya ni kagi o kakete | Hello, I lock up a new room |
飛び込め 上へ | tobikome ue e | And now, jump to the top![2] |
繰り返すリズムから響いたランウェー | kurikaesu rizumu kara hibiita ranuee | On a runway that echoed from repeating rhythms, |
彷徨えば後ろから影に憑かれて | samayoeba ushiro kara kage ni tsukarete | If you wander, he'll come from behind and possess you in the shadows |
グラビティーだけ切り取ったその姿 | gurabitii dake kiritotta sono sugata | You, a figure cut out only from gravity, |
午前3時まで 君だけを淘汰してゆくの | gozen sanji made kimi dake o touta shite yuku no | Until 3 in the morning, I hunt you down alone[3] |
何気ない声を ずっと待つ僕は | nanigenai koe o zutto matsu boku wa | Always waiting for that indifferent voice, |
きっと寂しさをボロボロと | kitto sabishisa o boroboro to | Surely, I want to shed tears of loneliness, drop by drop.[4] |
流したいのは この世界だ | nagashitai no wa kono sekai da | And this world wants to cry those same tears. |
Hello まだ見ない今日に鍵をかけて | Hello mada minai kyou ni kagi o kakete | Hello, I lock up my still-unseen today |
行くのだ ウェー! | yuku no da uee! | And follow the way! |
さよならだけ切り取ったその姿 | sayonara dake kiritotta sono sugata | I, a figure cut out only from a goodbye, |
君の世界まで 僕だけが加速してゆくの | kimi no sekai made boku dake ga kasoku shite yuku no | Until I reached your world, I alone was speeding up |
何もない日々を 知ってまた僕は | nani mo nai hibi o shitte mata boku wa | Knowing well those days of nothing, |
きっとボロボロになるのだろう | kitto boroboro ni naru no darou | Surely I'll become worn out again |
凍えたいのは この世界だ | kogoetai no wa kono sekai da | But what I want to freeze over is this world |
何気ない声を ずっと待つ僕は | nanigenai koe o zutto matsu boku wa | Always waiting for that indifferent voice, |
きっと寂しさをボロボロと | kitto sabishisa o boroboro to | Drop by drop, my tears of loneliness will surely[5] |
流して way | nagashite way | Flow down. That's the way I'll go[6] |

Translation Notes
- ↑ “My way” is in English. That’s why the wording is awkward www
- ↑ The Japanese for “to the top” is /ue e/. The Japanese transliteration for the English word way, used later in the song, is “uee.” Thus this is a pun, as they sound the same.
- ↑ The word translated “hunt down” means “(natural) selection” or “weeding out;” in this context, I thought hunt down made more sense.
- ↑ So on this line we were hella confused, so we asked niki who replied that the line had two meanings: “Surely, drop by drop, I want to cry loneliness. & Drop by drop, I want to shed loneliness. There are two overlapping meanings, yeah!” So, it’s the same sentence, with two different subjects. Also, this guy on hinative said that the loneliness was a metaphor for tears, so although it only says “cry loneliness,” it means the subject is crying loneliness like tears, or tears of loneliness.
- ↑ Same structure and wording as 1:42, though without the “This world” as another subject; thus no two meanings here, and no confusion. I translated this line differently a bit, since I wanted the word for “cry” (here “flow down”) to be at the end since that’s how it is in the Japanese, and honestly it’s a pet peeve of mine when the English subs don’t match the Japanese displayed.
- ↑ It just says, “Way,” not, “That’s the way I’ll go,” but just the “way” sounded awkward. The sentence before it ends in a continuative, effectively meaning “…flow down, and way” so the occurrence “way” is connected to and comes after the last sentence.
