I think an announcement is definitely going to be made once everything gets sorted out. Though, again, since there are limitations to what can be discussed on Fandom, I'm not sure if that announcement will be allowed to stay up.

As it is, it really might be easier if I just DM you a quick update. It'd just be one message, and I think, from there, you'll probably be able to keep track of updates yourself.

@Lunari162 Unfortunately, there are limitations to what we can discuss on Fandom. You could create a throwaway account to join the discord if this is a privacy thing. If this is about not using Discord, if you have DMs open on other sites (Reddit, Tumblr, etc.) and you're fine with being DM'd, I can let you know there?

Also, to the admins, this is super minor, so I get if you don't want to go through the hassle, but how about changing the current popup announcement about checking out the Basics of Editing page to one about the current edit freeze instead?

Only just now realized that no one has mentioned this, but we have a template for lyrics removal: {{RemovedLyricsCopyright}}. It'd probably look nicer if that was used as a replacement on the page instead of just deleting the lyrics table, since right now the pages look like they've been vandalized LOL.

Oh no I was just trying to explain why I think JaysAndRavens is posting here instead of on the blogpost. Also the second part of my comment was directed at them and not you; sorry I should've been clearer.

JaysAndRavens is an accepted translator, so they actually don't need to have their TL checked, especially since they seem to just be having trouble with a few lines.

I do think you might get faster help if you just send Talk page messages to translators directly, in this case, though. Or maybe ask on the discord server.

I think most people either transcribe it themselves or double-check an output from a generator. Romanization imo is the most time-consuming process for a page, which is why if you want to make a page, I'd recommend starting with songs that don't require romanization, such as English songs.

I (mostly) fixed it for you. It was an easy fix, but in the future, you should be making producer pages via the redirect that actually matches the name of the category. In this case, that should be Owata-P and not OwataP.

I don't really have any objections on the deletions themselves, but I wonder if it'd be prudent to lock these page titles so no new editors try to create them again. It'd probably also be helpful just to have a list of songs that the wiki won't host, but I can understand if the admins would prefer not to do that so as not to draw too much attention to these.

That sounds fair; I have no objections with that.

I mainly have logistical questions regarding this. Assuming this is going to be policy going forward, where on the Guidelines should it be written? Are we considering songs on a case-by-case basis, or are there actual criteria that editors can follow to determine if a song should or should not be allowed on the wiki?

Also, since we now have a page for producers whose work aren't allowed on the wiki (for various reasons), should we expand that to a boarder page about deletions? Mainly, I'm concerned that folks will try to reupload certain songs that have been deleted, especially since some of these are quite popular, so having some written notice/policy in the guidelines about this would, at the very least, make it easy to point to if anyone asks about them.

Vocal synth demo songs can be posted as long as the vocal synth is commercial, so Synth V, VOCALOID, and CeVIO demo songs, for instance, are all OK to add. UTAUs unfortunately do not fall under that.

The wiki does allow cover songs to be posted in general, but the cover songs need to have 1mil+ views.

@Mayystxrrrr That is incorrect, philia warnings are allowed. I explicitly asked admins about it during the discussion about new warning template guidelines, and they confirmed that those warnings are acceptable. Whoever keeps saying they are not is spreading misinformation.

To respond to this, while I can tell you when I personally differentiate them, it's besides the point for this conversation. What you should be keeping in mind is what warnings are for, which is to alert people of elements in the song that they might need to prepare themselves for (or choose to pass on). As long as the warning does that, it doesn't matter whether it says "themes" or "references".

I think this is just hair-splitting over semantics.

I've noticed you changing some of my "suicidal thoughts" warnings to "suicidal ideation" (and vice versa), and while I don't think the difference is significant enough for me to bother reverting your change, I'm going to have to kindly ask you to hold off doing such things in the future unless the warning is genuinely wrong. (For instance, a song that warns for suicide when no suicide is present.) As it is, it feels like you're making edits for the sake of it, and not really beneficial edits either.

EDIT: And removing warnings of things that are actually in the song is not helpful either. If you think they're redundant, you should probably be having a conversation with the person who added them to ask why they were added (perhaps they saw a need for it, or an aspect of it in the song that isn't covered in the first warning) rather than just deleting them unilaterally.

During the merge, it was already discussed and agreed upon that any viewcount categories were pointless. Also as the Hall of Fame/Legends only exist on niconico, it'd only apply to niconico songs. What goes in descriptions are always inconsistently applied anyway, so it shouldn't matter if some songs have that and others don't, though personally I also agree it's kind of an extraneous thing to add.

AngelChu makes a good point about Demonstration songs probably being the most "worth it" to translate because more English fans know about them, as Quadimension has official YouTube channels, the most active of which is their channel for Xingchen.

Otherwise, I generally just translate songs I enjoy listening to. If you have a bilibili account (and even if you don't -- it's just easier to browse with an account), you can browse the fan-run weekly bilibili vocal synth rankings and pick out some songs that you think sound nice and translate them. We have only around three or four active Chinese translators on the wiki right now (including me), so chances are, you'll find a song you like that's untranslated.

You don't have to report when you've edited pages. If you're sure you've done it correctly, you can remove the template yourself.

However, you're missing things with all of these pages here, so it was probably best that you didn't remove the template.

• A Sugar Business - Deleted reprints should just be removed. You keep the deleted link only for official uploads.

• A tail of the wind - KarenT counts as an official link, so you'd just sort it directly beneath "External Links", not under the Unofficial subheading.

• A Tale of Love - Alternate versions should be listed under the {{AlternateVersion}} template rather than in the songbox. Pixiv links to the original illustration counts as an official link.

• A Talk With Someone From Long Ago - Completely deleted songs should have the {{Unavailable}} template added.

• A Taste of Death - Similarly, if all uploads are privated, the page should also have the {{Unavailable}} template added.

• Foresight - Again, the links are sorted incorrectly. Instrumental downloads given by the producer are considered official links and should not be under the Unofficial subheading.

Hm, yeah, if linear-gradient doesn't work, it might be better to just have the color correspond to the lyrics warning rather than the video of we do decide to split them (as, again, the video isn't immediately visible on the page as opposed to the lyrics).

In either case, yes, there probably should also be bolded text (Explicit, Mild, Suggestive, or whatever we decide to call them) that indicates what level the warning is, in case some people find the colors hard to see/differentiate.

A/C: I think using specific line quantities is a bit dicey, since songs can often be different lengths, which is why I proposed using percentages instead. Though I do also understand that others have reservations about considering these things in terms of lines/percentages at all.

B: I heavily disagree with lumping all sexual content together. Consensual sex is one thing, but rape/sexual assault is quite another. As others have said better than me elsewhere, rape is not about sex, and they should not be equated.

J: I basically agree with everything CoolMikeHatsune22 had to say about this.

EDIT: About splitting lyrics & video warnings if they differ, I can see some usefulness for this, especially since we're specifically a lyrics hosting site, and you have to click off-site to view video. In this case, I'd suggest the video warnings simply be another parameter. If we're going forward with the color-coded warnings suggestion, ideally there'd be a way to color the template with lineargradient or whatever so the top color refers to the lyrics warning and the bottom color refers the video warnings (if it exists).
